Maintenance Foreman (Special Project), All Interested Applicants

Duties

This position supervises and directs the daily operations and activities of a multi-trade section of 16 facilities maintenance workers that includes painters, welders, masons and carpenters. Position is located in the Facility Maintenance Section and supervised by the Residential Maintenance Supervisor. Position performs supervisory responsibilities such as assigning work, provide job instructions, inspect work in progress for quality, provide work order completion reports, approves leave, provides training, coaching and counseling of subordinates, develop work requirement statements, participates in selection of candidates to be hired, recommends disciplinary action when warranted and rates performance on employee performance reports.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: 3 years of progressively responsible experience (including 2 years of supervisory experience) in the maintenance of buildings including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, millwork, masonry work, door locks and hardware, drywall and plaster repairs and roofing is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must be able to read and accurately interpret blueprints, sketches, technical drawings, trade manuals and equipment operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals. Must have good working knowledge of International Building Code (IBC) and simplified engineering principles. Must be knowledgeable of local codes.

Education Requirements:
Completion of high school (or host nation equivalent) is required. Completion of a vocational program or apprenticeship program recognized as producing journeyman level mechanical skill or equivalent experience is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:

English  – Good working Knowledge is required. Good vocabulary and understanding of grammar and able to construct sentences. Able to use English as part of normal work duties including having conversations with customers and answer questions.

This may be tested.

French and Bambara – Fluent is required. Able to use the language fluently and accurately, making only minor errors of pronunciation and grammar.  Able to conduct all work in French and Bambara.  Almost as proficient in French and Bambara as in your native language.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to correctly use the tools of the trade, power equipment such as drills, hand tools, measuring devices, reciprocating saws, air compressors, aerial lift platforms, etc. Must be able to work at elevated heights on ladders, in a man-lift or bucket truck. Must possess computer skills, use email, calculator and other basic office equipment. Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.
