Summary: The U.S. Mission in Bamako/Mali is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Janitor. The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week.)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within two weeks of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Major Duties:

Cleans and performs a variety of janitorial services in New Embassy Compound owned/leased office buildings, and /or other office buildings including sweeping, scrubbing, disinfecting, deodorizing and waxing floors, restrooms, and lavatories fixtures. She/he also empties baskets and ashtrays, dusts and polishes household and/or furniture, reports broken windows, burned light bulbs and clogged drains. Uses pressure washer to clean exterior of New Embassy Compound walls and walkways.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Education: Completion of elementary school is required.

Requirements:

Experience: Three months experience working in an office environment.
Job knowledge: Must know how to use cleaning supplies and apply them to various surfaces (ie floor, walls and furniture etc.)

Evaluations:

Language: English Level I; French Level I and Bambara are required. English Language will be tested. Skills and abilities: Ability to follow instructions and perform physical activities involving lifting, standing, walking and bending down. Must be able to distinguish items or conditions that are clean and unclean.

Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.
