JOB SUMMARY
The Education Project Officer will have the lead responsibility of managing and coordinating Right To Play’s education programming, particularly under the AHEAD program.  S/he will also be working to integrate Right To Play’s methodologies in academic and co-curricular curriculum of provincial and national boards/agencies. Under guidance from Country Manager and Program Manager, and in collaboration with Project Coordinators, s/he will provide solutions to promote activity based learning and other effective tools for enhancing knowledge and skills among children and youth in Right To Play’s existing and prospective project locations. S/he will also be responsible for undertaking analysis of results (related to education) from Right To Play’s interventions, and additionally bring innovative knowledge to organization’s approaches
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS.
Job Responsibility #1: Support Integration of Play Based Learning in Local and National Education Systems  (Time : 40%)
With the support of HQ and the RO, develop and promote support-materials for incorporating activity based learning methods for teachers
Take responsibility for integrating Right To Play’s methodology in curricula and/or teacher training practices of local and/or national education systems
Under guidance of Country Manager and Program Manager, and collaboration with Project Coordinators, develop tools for effective skills and knowledge delivery for partner schools
Coordinate with training focal points in country and at HQ and RO to assess needs of teachers and teaching methodologies in order to design trainings for education departments, Education District Officers, and teachers
Work closely with teacher training and curriculum development institutions in provinces to integrate Right To Play’s methodology into curriculum, text books and class room teaching
Coordinate with Regional Office and Headquarter on the development of education and training materials
Job Responsibility #2:Program Management and Coordination (Time : 40%)
Lead in designing, planning, implementing projects in aspects related to enhanced learning and education
Ensure the use of integrated learning activities in schools where Right To Play is implementing activities
Ensure the AHEAD program is implemented according to approved activity plans and budgets
Coordinate the development of AHEAD program reports
With regard to education related indicators, support M&E Officer in Monitoring and evaluating the outcomes from Right To Play’s activities with children and youth and trainings to partner organizations; circulate the findings and suggest best practices
Undertake field visits to interact with children, youth, coaches and project staff and provide relevant support
Suggest solutions to expand and deepen Right To Play’s approaches at all levels
Job Responsibility #3: Advocacy and Strengthening and Developing Partnerships (Time : 20%)
In collaboration with the Country Manager and Program Manager, develop strong relationships with existing and potential partners in education sector to promote Right To Play’s approach and results
Support the Country Manager and Program Manager to develop MoUs with implementing and strategic partners and oversee implementation accordingly
Promote knowledge of Right To Play mandate and values through responsible representation of Right To Play amongst all stakeholders and potential partners.
Represent Right To Play to at various platforms
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION
Required (must have):            
Master’s Degree in social work, development, or education
EXPERIENCE
Required (must have):            
Minimum 5-7 years of experience planning, managing, and monitoring education programs
Proven experience managing a team of people and coordinating with various stakeholders
Experience writing project proposals and reports
Desired (asset):
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience of curriculum development or involvement in teacher training programs
Experience in managing project spending
COMPETENCIES / PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
Good understanding of curriculum development and teacher training
Sound experience of working with children
Strong coordination skills with government agencies and other stakeholders
Excellent report/proposal writing skills in English and French
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, in English
Experience of teaching / working closely with teachers and educational institutions
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Able to adapt to a changing environment and be flexible
Able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines (handling multiple tasks that will require the ability to prioritize is essential)
A strong team player (cooperative, participatory, respectful)
Comfortable in initiating and fostering relationships with new/multiple stakeholders
Able to exercise discretion and good judgment
Resourceful and able to solve problems
Able to initiate and deliver proactive, cost-effective and creative solutions
Excellent communication skills
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Willing to learn Right To Play’s approach and methodology
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Salary: We offer a competitive salary
Employment Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Duration: One year contract renewable
