SALARY:  *Ordinarily Resident: 4,542,995 CFA per annum
(FSN-07 starting salary before benefits and allowances)
*Not-Ordinarily Resident: US$40,394 per year

The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is seeking an individual for the position of Medical Technician in the Embassy Regional Medical Office section.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent will serve as the U.S. Certified Medical Technologist, Western European or Non-Western equivalent trained Medical Technologist with comparable qualifications.  The position is located in the Embassy Health Unit (HU) Laboratory and is under the direct supervision of the Regional Medical Officer.  The position will provide the full range of professional clinical laboratory services to U.S. direct hire and military personnel and their eligible family members who were assigned to the U.S. Mission in Mali.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
Secondary schooling and minimum two years laboratory training.
Minimum two years in professional work experience as a laboratory technician in a hospital or outpatient laboratory with some independent management experience.
French Language level IV and English Language II (English will be tested).
Technical skills in hematology, bacteriology, analytical chemistry, basic organic and inorganic chemical formulation. Training and familiarity with microscopy and chemistry analyzers.
Basic computer skills (Windows and Excel).
SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizens Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S Veterans are given preference.  Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy. 
Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
