SALARY:     *Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): US$24,518 p.a (Starting salary Position grade: FP-AA to be confirmed by Washington)
*Ordinary Resident: CFA 2,102,924 per annum (Starting salary before benefits and allowances)
Position grade: FSN-4

The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is seeking a Mason in the Facility Maintenance Section.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The incumbent performs all types of masonry related work in construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and residences.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with all types of bricks, lintels and ceramic tile materials to construct walls, floors, ceilings and supporting structures.
Applying finish masonry and concrete mixtures and masonry surfaces.
Doing touch-up repairs to concrete masonry surfaces.
Being able to work independently and supervise apprentices and/or daily hire laborers/helpers.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Elementary School and vocational training or apprenticeship recognized in producing masonry skills.
One year of masonry work experience.
English I, French and Bambara II.
Familiarity with full journeyman mechanic established practices in the specific trade involved.
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade as well as lift up to 30kg.
Must have a valid Malian driver’s license.
SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizens Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S Veterans are given preference.  Therefore it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy. 
Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
