SALARY:   *Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): US$24,518 p.a (Starting salary Position grade: FP-AA to be confirmed by Washington)
*Ordinary Resident: CFA 2,102,924 per annum (Starting salary before benefits and allowances)
Position grade: FSN-4

The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is seeking a Diesel Mechanic in the Facility Maintenance Section.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The incumbent performs skill level auto-mechanic work and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of all diesel engines. 
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent is responsible for:Installing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing diesel generator and truck engines to include complete engine overhauls and minor repairs as well as oil filter changes.
Keeping a complete record of problems/repairs for each generator engine. 
Initiating parts requests and making recommendations as to acquisition/disposal of diesel generators.
Performing, repairing and ensuring maintenance to pumps, hydraulic systems, fans, gates and other mechanical equipments.
Responding to after hour emergency calls as needed.
Being aware of sound safety practices.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Primary education and vocational training or apprenticeship in an institution producing journeyman skills.
Minimum three years of experience as a diesel mechanic with a local enterprise.
English I, French and Bambara IV.
Familiarity with full journeyman mechanic established practices in the specific trade involved.
Ability to use the tool of the trade.
Must have a valid Malian driver’s license
SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizens Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S Veterans are given preference.  Therefore it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.  Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
