The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Mali wishes to recruit for the following position:
Title: Human Resources Assistant
Level: GS-6 (General Services)
Type of Appointment: Temporary Appointment (TA)
Duration: 364 days
Duty Station : Bamako, Mali
Date of issue : 26 April 2012

I. PURPOSE OF THE POST
Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Specialist, this temporary position will assist in the personnel and human resource management of all categories of staff in the Mali Country Office.
II. MAJOR TASKS
– Prepare documents and files for presentation to the Selection Advisory Panel, Appointment and Placement Committee and provide secretarial assistance.
– Assist in the preparation of local staff PAs and letters of appointment, SSAs for Consultants and Individual Contractors
– Participate in the recruitment process of national professionals and general services staff, including assessing the suitability of candidates’ applications, administering tests to determine candidate’s familiarity with computer software and short listing for GS posts.
– Respond to staff queries on non-contentious/routine HR entitlements and benefits.
– Perform any other HR related tasks as required.
III. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE
Education
– Completion of secondary education supplemented by training in administration/Human Resources or equivalent.
– Knowledge of computer systems and applications Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software.
Experience : 6 years’ experience in the field of personnel management or similar work in a recognized institution. Experience in an international organization or NGO desirable.
Language(s): Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English required.
Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
