SALARY: *Ordinary Resident (OR): CFA 4,542,995 per year (Starting salary before benefits and allowances) Position grade: FSN-7
*Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): US$39,994 per year (starting salary Position grade: FP-7 to be confirmed by Washington)

The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is seeking an individual for the position of Telephone/Radio Assistant for the Embassy’s Information Management section.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining the mission’s telephone and radio systems.
Maintaining adequate inventory of spare parts for these systems and forecasting spare parts requirements to minimize equipment “down-time”.
Monitoring work performed by local providers and reporting to the Radio and Telephone Technician.
Backing up the Radio and Telephone Technician in daily operations.
Maintaining good relationships with local telephone companies.
Assisting Radio and Telephone Technician in troubleshooting and resolving any system failure or emergency

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High school diploma or country equivalent; plus a certification in Telephone, Radio technology.
Three years of experience in a professional environment.
Level 4 (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing French is required. Level 2 (Working Knowledge) speaking/reading English is required. English language proficiency will be tested.
Knowledge of the principles, methods, tools, and techniques of radio and telephone technologies and their operations, management, and maintenance.
SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizens Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
