SALARY:*Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): US$ 50,043 p.a
*Ordinary Resident (OR): CFA 8,237,452 per annum (Starting salary before benefits and allowances)

The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is seeking an individual for the position of Scientific Administrator at the National Institute of Health (NIH).
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Liaises directly between International Center for Excellency in Research (ICER Mali) Projects and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) U.S. Investigators and team members. Works directly with NIAID to perform Clinical trials operation support, administrative support and performs market research related to procurement.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Master of Public Health, degree in medicine or equivalent is required.
Five (5) years of background clinical experience with infectious disease treatment including HIV and tuberculosis, minimum two (2) years experience with administering clinical trials research and management, and a minimum of one year experience in clinical protocol data management are required.
Level 3 (Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing French is required. Level 3 (Working Knowledge) speaking/reading English is required. English language proficiency will be tested.
Excellent computer skills (Windows, Excel, Outlook E-mail, and Internet Explorer) are required.
Background clinical experience with infectious disease treatment including HIV and tuberculosis, Malian Ethics Committee submission experience, knowledge of epidemiological principles, and good clinical practices in their application in clinical research.
SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizens Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
