WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week
SALARY: CFA 11,041, 502 per annum (Starting salary before benefits and allowances)
The U.S. Agency for International Development, co-located with the US Embassy Bamako, is seeking one individual as Project Management Specialist for the Health Team.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The Nutrition and WASH Program Specialist will provide leadership, program management and technical support for the new USAID nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene-related programs in Mali, in compliance with the BEST Action Plan and Feed the Future (FtF) Initiative.
The incumbent will also:
1) Lead efforts to design and manage targeted Mission programs that focus on improving nutritional status, water supply and quality, sanitation and hygiene;
2) Lead efforts to monitor and evaluate all Mission activities contributing toward improved nutritional status, water supply and quality, sanitation and hygiene;
3) Provide overall technical analysis and guidance to the Mission on strategies to improved nutritional status, water supply and quality, sanitation and hygiene; and
4) Serve as liaison on technical issues between USAID/Mali Offices, Malian government counterparts, other USG agencies, and regional and international organizations that are active in nutrition and the WASH sector in Mali.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education: Master’s degree in public health or related disciplines.
Prior Work Experience:
At least seven years of nutrition/WASH experience with increasing responsibilities, interactions with clients in developing countries and field experience are required.
Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, program design, implementation and oversight of USAID or other donor programs in the areas of nutrition, water and sanitation activities.
Language Proficiency: Level IV proficiency in both written and spoken English and French is required.
Knowledge:
Proficient analytical skills that demonstrate an understanding of the current concepts, priorities and issues in program data collection and evaluation are required.
Understanding of the U.S. Government’s budgeting and procurement policies and procedures.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to collect, synthesize and make use of nutrition and water and sanitation-related data for the purpose of communicating and designing strategy and to communicate with clients and partners.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a complex donor environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software is required.
Excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Ability to work with diverse groups.
High degree of judgment, maturity, ingenuity and originality to interpret strategy, to analyze, develop and present work.
