Position grade: FP-BB
Ordinarily Resident: 2,211,641 CFA per annum
(FSN-03 starting salary before benefits and allowances)

The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is seeking two individuals for the position of Chauffeur in the Motor Pool section of the Embassy’s General Services Office.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Operate vehicle to transport Mission employees and official visitors in Bamako and up-country on field-trips as directed by the Dispatcher.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Transporting Mission personnel and official visitors within the city of Bamako and surrounding areas and up-country on field trips as directed, observing all local and Mission safety rules and regulations.
Keeping assigned vehicle in clean and serviceable condition, and performing basic maintenance on vehicle
Reporting malfunction of the vehicle to the dispatcher.
Maintaining a daily log of all trips and stops and ensuring that the passengers complete their portion on the trip ticket after trip is over.
Maintaining good appearance, i.e. clean uniform with change of uniforms at least twice a week.
Reporting any damage to a vehicle as a result of an accident or other causes to the dispatcher.
Serving as a special messenger when required, to deliver cargo, documents/letters or invitations to mission offices, local government and international organizations offices.
Driving USG official visitors (occasionally) during portions of their trip.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Completion of elementary school is required.
One year experience as chauffeur is required.
Level 2 (Limited Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing in French and English is required.
Knowledge of local driving laws and traffic patterns, principal locations around the city, and basic mechanical principles.
A valid Malian driver’s license, class B, C and D (truck, SUV and commercial)
Flexibility and ability to concentrate and deal with hectic traffic is required.
SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizens Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
