SALARY:*Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): US$39,994 p.a (starting salary Position grade: FP-7 to be confirmed by Washington)
*Ordinary Resident: CFA 4,542,995 per annum (Starting salary before benefits and allowances)

The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is seeking an individual for the position of Structural Foreman for the Embassy’s Facility Maintenance Section.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent serves as the Structural Foreman for the FM section and supervises the routine and preventive maintenance activities for residential properties and the New Embassy Compound (NEC) utilizing a multi-trade work force of carpenters, masons, painters and welders. She/he supervises, plans, schedules and provides cost estimates for project requirements on all FM scheduled special and discretionary projects. The Structural Foreman manages both material and manpower assets in completing these projects, and coordinates with the Maintenance Supervisor for personnel assignment. The incumbent responds to emergency maintenance calls during off duty hours and holidays and is responsible for the safety of Foreign Service Nationals and contractor personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
– Secondary level education and vocational or technical training in engineering or the field of construction.
– Minimum five years experience in an engineering or construction job and journeyman in building trades and grounds care.
– Level III French, level II English (English will be tested) and Bambara are required.
– Must possess construction trades and practices, planning and estimating ability, ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, floor plans, shop drawings and specifications.
– Hands on knowledge and ability to supervise and teach as necessary apprentice and other knowledgeable workers are required
– Leadership traits and minimum personnel management skills.
– Must be able to work effectively under pressure in a high stress and high workload environment.
– Computer skills with Excel and MS Word is required
SELECTION PROCESS:

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
