Position: Fundraising and Communications Consultant
Reports to: Country Manager
Location: Bamako, Mali
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Fundraising and Communications Consultant is a new position created to support the Mali 2011 Country Office plan and is responsible to support and build the capacity of key Mali staff in fundraising strategy and development as well as communication and advocacy document production.
The position for an 11-month in-house contract from February 1st to December 31st 2011.
QUALIFICATIONS:
– The consultant will have a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
– At least two years relevant experience in a fundraising development capacity and three years relevant experience including grant/report/communication document writing.
– Strong experience and knowledge of the NGO sector and the local fundraising strategies adapted to an International NGO.
– Strong experience in writing and editing high quality documents both in French and English, such as: program reports, articles and success stories, concept notes, grants, advocacy documents, program planning documents, country context analyses.
– Experience in team capacity building/training/coaching in fields of expertise.
– Excellent communication skills including facilitation, negotiation, networking skills and relationship building, and capable of professional representation.
– Strong ability to work independently and take initiatives, under the guidance of a team leader.
– Excellent English and French; written, spoken and editorial skills.
– Computer skills that must include Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
