The InWent Regional Office in West Africa based in Bamako, Mali looks for a Programme & Alumni Coordinator
The position on offer includes the following tasks :
The support of InWEnt programmes and Alumni-work in West Africa, in particular in Mali, Benin, Burkina Faso and Ghana as well as coordinating tasks within the development cooperation « all of a piece ».
1- BACKGROUND :
InWEnt – Capacity Building International, Germany, is a non-profit organisation with worldwide operations dedicated to human resource development, advanced training, and dialogue. Our capacity building programmes are directed at experts and executives from politics, administration, the business community, and civil society in Developing Countries, Countries in Transition and Industrialised Countries. The cooperation with former participants (alumni) of InWEnt-programmes has a high priority. In order to strengthen our portfolio in West Africa, improve cooperation on site and intensify our cooperation with former participants of InWEnt-programmes we concentrate the coordination of our ctivites
in Mali. The tasks at hand within this framework must be attended within short notice, on time and in close adjustment with the InWEnt/DED regional director in Bamako and the responsible Regional Coordination in Division 1.02.
2-SUMMARY OF TASKS
• Ensuring consistent information on the country-specific and regional orientation of InWEnt’s programmes and supporting public relation work
• Supporting the InWEnt’s programme divisions in assessing the on-thespot demand for international human resources and organisational development
• Co-ordinating the implementation of InWEnt programmes in close cooperation with the responsible InWEnt divisions in Germany
• Interaction with partner institutions, German development parthers and German Embassy as well as with InWEnt alumni
• Providing service for the planning, organisation and implementation of seminars and conferences in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana an Mali as well as for study tours for West African partners to Germany
• Developing joint project approaches with other German development agencies
• Co-operation with alumni associations : evaluation and administration of applications for financial support, correspondence with national/regional alumni co-ordinators, transfer of funds to eligible alumni associations, monitoring of utilisation of funds
• Initiation and implementation of seminars, workshops and other activities, such as alumni- information gatherings in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Mali
• Personal consulting and support of alumni
• Administration and promotion of the InWEnt Alumni-Portal in the region, compilation and moderation of virtual Alumni-Forums on the according InWEnt-Platforms
3- YOUR PROFILE
• University degree or comparable skills and experience
• At least five years of relevant professional experience in a senior position
• Experience in project management and in interacting with top-ranking partners
• Good understanding of the political and economic environnement in West Africa
• Knowledge of current issues in the field of development policy, and the German Development Cooperation environment
• Flexibility and willingness to travel, mostly within West Africa
• Excellent social skills, communication, facilitation abilities and confident presentation skills
• Fluency in oral and written German (B1 Level, CEFR), French and English is essential
• Work permit in Mali
