The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is a non-profit international research organisation, serving a global mandate to improve productivity of small-holder livestock systems and to protect the natural resources that support these systems. ILRI is seeking to recruit a Project Assistant to join the Project on « Sustainable management of endemic ruminant livestock of West Africa).
Specific duties include:
– Assisting the project coordinator and team on all issues associated with the project administration and finances.
– Liaising with the relevant administrative services at ICRISAT and various project partners to monitor and tract project finances including verification of monthly financial reports prepared by ICRISAT and submission to ILRI.
– Liaising with administrative and financial units at ILRI headquarters on relevant project related issues.
– Coordinating arrangements for meetings, travel, supplies, transportation, and communication.
– General clerical duties as needed, including keeping minutes of meetings, typing and formatting of correspondence and technical reports.
– Creating and maintaining administrative, bibliographic and other research related databases.
– Managing project related WebPages.
– Assisting in translation of documents from English to French and or from French to English.
– Assisting in any other administrative and financial duty assigned by the project coordinator.
The successful candidate should have:
– Relevant professional (e.g. Diploma in Business Administration of Diploma in accounting) training plus 2 years relevant experience. University degree preferred.
– Training in basic management courses, including basic accounting.
– Computer skills including sound knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
– Excellent interpersonal communication and good personal organisation skills required.
– Proficiency in French and English language (both writing and speaking).
– Good judgment and willingness to take initiative necessary.
– Demonstrated ability to work in multi-cultural environment.
This is a new Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at ILRI/ICRISAT at Samanko, Bamako and is on fixed term contract of two years. Salary and benefits will be in line with those provided within ICRISAT NRS.
