The Modelling and Mapping Geologist is responsible for providing technical leadership and development of 3 dimensional models for the various orebodies, surrounding country rock and structural models. This includes the strategies for mapping and development of flitch plans, geological interpretations, 3d spatial modelling domaining and ore characterisation (mineralogy). The Modelling and Mapping Geologist is also a key input provider for reconciliation and minimisation of misclassification and dilution.

·      Lead, manage and develop the geological mapping and modelling processes across multiple disciplines.

·      Develop and implement strategies for flitch mapping and development of flitch plans.

·      Development of geological modelling programs and protocols.

·      Provide governance for sampling and laboratory activities.

·      Participate in daily, weekly, monthly and annual reconciliations and recommend remedial actions.

·      Develop Resource and Reserve modifying factors with geologists and mine planners.

·      Characterise the 3D geology block model with appropriate geological domains, parameters and characteristics for use in planning.

·      Develop mapping programs, collect and manage data, model geological and structural features and parameters and update the geometallurgical models and databases.

·      Appropriately analyse, evaluate and report all significant reconciliation issues.

·      Provide input relating to geological modelling and mapping into short, medium- and long-term planning.

·      Ensure all works carried out comply with safety, quality and design requirements.

·      Liaise regularly with mine planning, geology and mine production personnel.

·      Carry out audits, reviews and quality assurance programs.

·      Appropriately plan operational and capital budget requirements for works and equipment related to geological modelling and mapping.

·      Check compliance to procedures and safe work practices in the field through the Planned Task Observation (PTO), and Task Observation Process for Supervisor (TOPS) systems.

Knowledge / Skills
& Competencies:
·      Significant experience (minimum 10 years with at least 5 years on an open pit mine)

·      Experience in large multi pit operations utilising large scale mining equipment i.e. drill rigs and blasting experience essential.

·      Able to clearly demonstrate the aptitude to drive a light vehicle and hold a current Malian drivers’ licence or be able to obtain one.

·      Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.

·      Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to the local Malian mine operations personnel.

·      Competent in incident/accident investigation

·      Commitment to training of Malian national citizens

Training / Education requirements: ·      BSc in Geology (minimum).

·      MSc in Geology/Economic Geology (preferred).

Experience required: ·      Work Knowledge:

·      Computer Skills:

·      Good computer skills with the ability to use geological structural modelling software (Datamine preferred) integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.

Language requirement: ·      Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to the local Malian mine operations personnel.

·      Ability to communicate effectively across all levels

·      Confident communicator with senior management, legal entities and external stakeholders

·      Strong report writing and presentation skills.
