The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Mali wishes to recruit for the following position:
Title: Sr. Logistic Assistant
Level:  GS-7
Type of Appointment: Temporary Appointment (TA)
Duration:  364 days
Duty Station :  Bamako, Mali

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Under the direct supervision of the Logistic Specialist or in his absence, the Supply & Logistic manager, the incumbent will carry out logistic daily activities.
The incumbent co-ordinate with service providing companies and multiple stakeholders (program’s sections, partners…). The incumbent ensures the logistic & transport operations are effective & in compliance with the organization’s policy, procedures, rules and regulations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES and DUTIES & TASKS
Within the delegated authority and under the given organizational set-up, the incumbent may be assigned the primary, shared, or contributory accountabilities for all or part of the following areas of major duties and key end-results.
Objective 1, Organize the implementation of the program distribution plan. Calculate weight and volume, propose cost estimate. Inform Program section when waybill come back with partner acknowledgement of receipt. Maintain close contact with partner‘s logistic counterpart.
Objective 2, Manage inland transport. Insure transport contract are done before physical shipment. Maintain up to date a report of transport follow up. Maintain close contact with Transport Company under LTA. Follow up of each shipment until end. Inform and train company on Unicef expectation and documentation. Process and follow up on contract payment and claim. Organize the planning of Unicef’s trucks.
Objective 3, Support the warehouse. Act as officer in charge for the senior warehouse assistant. Insure payment of warehouse contract. Maintain office archive for release order and waybill.
Objective 4, Maintain the logistic archive and the system tool (Vision) accurate and update. Prepare the service call and share the result with the team.
Objective 5, Support the supply & logistic unit on request.
QUALIFICATION and COMPETENCIES
Education
Completion of Secondary School, University level courses in administration, finance, or any other related field of discipline relevant to the job is an asset.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in field of logistics preferably with an international organization will be an asset
Language Proficiency
Fluency in French and good command of English.
