Duties

Basic Function of the Position

Under the general supervision of the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) and the direct supervision of the senior FSN-10 Information Specialist, the incumbent  monitors, reports on analyzes both local and international media in order to provide media summaries and analysis as well as briefings to the Chief of Mission (COM), Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), PAO and other Embassy sections and U.S. Government agencies and officials.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: 2 years of progressively responsible experience in communications/media or journalism.JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of both Malian and U.S. foreign and domestic policy issues.
Education Requirements:
  • University degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Communication, Journalism, Graphic Design, Language, Literature, or Interpretation/translation.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Bamako may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
