The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week)

Basic Function of the Position
Under the general supervision of the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) and the direct supervision of the senior FSN-10 Information Specialist, the incumbent monitors, reports on analyzes both local and international media in order to provide media summaries and analysis as well as briefings to the Chief of Mission (COM), Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), PAO and other Embassy sections and U.S. Government agencies and officials.
Qualifications and Evaluations
- EXPERIENCE: 2 years of progressively responsible experience in communications/media or journalism.JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of both Malian and U.S. foreign and domestic policy issues.
- Education Requirements:
- University degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Communication, Journalism, Graphic Design, Language, Literature, or Interpretation/translation.
- LANGUAGE:English Level IV « This may be tested »French level IV « This may be tested »Bambara level IV « This may be tested »SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to develop and maintain an extensive range of contacts in press and media and with embassy personnel in all sections who contribute to public affairs work and with contacts in Washington. The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
