Description : To direct and control the activities of the Mining Contractor to ensure that works are carried out within, mine safety standards, contractual requirements, and the budget time and cost parameters.
Location : Yatela Mine, Mali
Qualifications Required : Approved tertiary qualification in mining engineering.
Experience Required : Eight years mining experience of which at least five years is in open pit environment. A track record of successful management of an open pit mining operation. Previous experience working with mining contractors. Experience in remote site type location. Exposure to Geotechnical issues related to slope stability and blast design. French language skills would be an advantage.
Role and Responsibility : Responsible for operational planning to ensure efficiency execution of the annual mining schedule. Generation and management of projects to improve and refine production process especially with regard to mining cost reduction and ensuring that the best available engineering techniques are applied in optimizing the mining unit operations. Managing of the Blasting Engineering functions as well as the activities of the Mine Survey Department. To co-ordinate the activities of the service departments to ensure maximum support is given to the production function. Mentoring local Malian engineers in the department. Perform the role of Acting Mining Manager in the absence of the Mining Manager when required.
Additional Information : The successful candidate will report to the Mining Manager.

Remuneration : The successful candidate will be appointed on an expatriate 2 year contract, which may be renewed after the 2 year period. US Dollar denominated salary package together with regular leave breaks will be offered.
