Description : The mining operation at Sadiola Gold Mine is contracted out. As the mining contract is an alliance type contract the incumbent will be responsible for managing the contractor performance and costs. This effectively means a high level of involvement in the management of the mining operation itself.
Location : Sadiola Gold Mine, Mali
Qualifications Required : Approved tertiary qualification in mining engineering.
Experience Required : Eight years mining experience of which at least five years is in open pit mining. A track record of successful management of an open pit mining operation. Previous experience with mining contractors will be a distinct advantage. An understanding of mining cost structures and basic accounting principles. Experience in remote site type location. Proficiency in the use of mine planning software. French language skills would be an advantage.
Role and Responsibility : Management of pit production, ore feed to the plant and most mining related activities. This will include liaising with other mining department personnel and the mining contractor¡¦s staff to establish world class cost effective mining practices. The incumbent is also responsible for the Alliance Management Plan¡¦s database and control systems and to effectively optimize the current mine operations overall performance. Generation of both routine and special production and cost trend reports to assist the production function. To recruit, train and develop Malian engineers as per the Mining Department Localization Plan.
Additional Information : The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager.

Remuneration : The successful candidate will be appointed on an expatriate 2 year contract, which may be renewed after the 2 year period. A US Dollar denominated salary package together with regular leave breaks will be offered.
