BØRNEfonden is a Danish child-centered NGO created in 1972 and operating in Mali since 1972. BØRNEfonden aims to strengthen children and youth in poor countries to become independent, competent people, who inspire and contribute to a positive change in their community. It has four key intervention areas; Education& learning, Health and nutrition, children rights protection and Income Generation. BØRNEfonden uses funds donated by private sponsors and grants partners to develop its key intervention areas including related advocacy and monitoring & evaluation.
In that framework, BØRNEfonden Mali is recruiting a “Coordinator of Administration and Finance for its Administration and Finance Department.
Location: Based in BAMAKO- MALI with occasional trip in West Africa
Reporting to: National Director of BØRNEfonden MALI
Member of the Country Management Group
Job purpose:    Ensure financial and administrative management of the Country Programme and projects funds of BØRNEfonden Mali.
Key Functions:
Lead and coordinate Admin and Finance Department activities and Staff
Ensure financial management of National Office and Development Units’ funds
Lead the National Office and DUs’ annual budget development and control
Develop tools and mechanisms for the follow up of budget expenditure against field activity implementation
Ensure financial monitoring of programs and projects in collaboration with the Heads of Department and / or Project Managers (develop procedures for financial monitoring, conduct field monitoring visits, etc.) to ensure timely financial reporting to donors
Ensure monthly accounts and financial reporting to CPH
Contribute to the development and implementation of administrative and logistics management policies and procedures (transport, procurement, risk management, etc.)
Lead the grants & mini-projects finance in respect of partners procedures and deadlines
Ensure regular review and update of SOPs and Manual of Procedures
Supervise logistics management
Can represent BORNEfonden Mali at all times & within a professional manner
Person specifications:
Education to degree level or equivalent at least BAC+5 in accounting, financial management, etc.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in working in the development sector with 4 years in a leadership role in financial and administrative management, budget development and control, donor financial reporting, etc. in a Non-Governmental Organization and Civil Society Organization set up
Documented experience in the development of tools and mechanisms for financial management and budget control
Substantial knowledge of sound management systems related to Civil Society Organizations
Strong people skills with the ability to manage, support and motivate a culturally diverse team
Proven experiences and skills administrative and Human Resource management and handling legal issues related to Civil Society Organizations in Mali
Proven experience in employees development and training
Proven capacity in developing internal tools to guide the organization and its employees
Proven experience in working with personnel delegates
Good judgment and ability to use initiative and make decisions in complex, challenging and sensitive situations
Participatory and collaborative working approach
Excellent computer skills, including accounting, financial management and budget control software
Fluent French and professional working level in English
Starting date for work: as soon as possible.
