2. POSITION PURPOSE |
Providing analytical and implementation support to Continuous Improvement function to ensure the implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives, methodologies, strategies and associated techniques/technology for delivery of substantial cost reductions and efficiency improvements. |

5. KEY POSITION RESULT AREAS |
CI Function |
Effective analytical support is provided for the Continuous Improvement (CI) function
- Act as CI team’s primary resource for accessing relevant production and cost data
- Provide fact based to help CI team identify priorities, solve root-causes and identify significant cost saving ideas
- Directly assist idea owners to complete Idea Forms
- reinforce CI team’s high standards for Idea Form requirements
- Provide analytic support for weekly review and for updates to relevant department
- Maintain the team’s database of Ideas and oversee tracking of all ideas

CI Projects and Implementation |
Effective implementation support is provided for the Continuous Improvement function
- Lead Idea Generation Sessions (IGS) and proactively engages relevant department personnel for idea input
- Assist in identifying and enlisting logical Owners for Ideas
- Ensure that Idea Owners get sufficient analytic and implementation support
- Assist Idea Owners to develop effective work plans for ideas
- Assist Idea Owners with any analytical requirements to implement ideas
- Assist Idea Owners to track ideas to ensure the deliver results and are sustainable.
- Value-adding CI Projects, ideas and strategies are implemented
- Build strong working relationships with operations and other parts of the business
- Benchmark key process performance and identify areas for improvement
- Identify conformance/deviation in improved and existing processes, and suggest improvements

Cost generating issues are critically analysed and evaluated
- Analyse Iaf›our cost and suggest improvement areas
- Analyse Cash Cost and all in sustaining cost and suggest improvement areas
- Ensure effective planning of CI implementation

- Working in West Africa and understanding the culture of Mali and the Workforce
- The Development of Skill levels of the national employees to an acceptable standards
- FIFO operation with rosters that overlap for continuity of the Mine
- The increasing risks associated with Insurgents into Mali and the safe keeping of the workforce

7. POSITION HOLDER REQUIREMENTS |
Formal Qualifications |
§ Relevant tertiary qualification in Continuous Improvement or Engineering/Technical related discipline; or 5+ years frontline operational experience at minimum of Superintendent level |
Experience, Skills and Knowledge |
- Project Management skills
- Lean 6 Sigma experience
- Understanding of mining business and operational processes
- Sound financial judgment
- Above average computer skills (e.g. MS Excel)
- Experience in undertaking moderately complex commercial issues and financial valuations, under the direction of senior managers
- Good project management and self-organisation skills
- Well-developed communication skills, including preparation of reports and presentations
- Well-developed research and analytical skills
