Terms of Reference: Scientific Officer – Data Management (ICRISAT / IER) Band A
Terms of Reference:
Assist scientists involved in a molecular breeding project with the management of pedigree, phenotypic and genotypic data
Train sorghum breeding scientists in Mali, and possibly neighbouring countries in the use of data management software,
Assists the Sorghum Community of Practice of the GCP with advice on data management.
Implement data standards and best practices for Research Data Management by assisting scientists with the development of phenotyping protocols, quality standards, Trait dictionaries, templates and field books.
The Person:
Must hold at least MSc or equivalent degree in data management
Experience or knowledge of crop science and applied statistics, or information technology are desirable
Strong background in information management and computer science
Experience in developing data management systems will be added advantage.
Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural partnerships.
Excellent communications skills in written and spoken French.
Communication skills in English are essential and will be an added advantage
The Position:
The position is on Fixed-Term Contract initially for one year, and renewable based on the performance of the incumbent, and the Institute’s continuing need for the position.  An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
The position will be based in Bamako, Mali located at the IER Centre in Sotuba. The position will be a joint appointment between IER and ICRISAT.
