PURPOSE OF THE POST
Under the general supervision of the Health Specialist, contributes to project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Child survival programme, including Health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS water and sanitation activities, data analysis and progress reporting, including teamwork and capacity building.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contributes to the analysis of the programme implementation at the regional level, reports and evaluates against established programme recommendations and plans of action. Collects and analyses data and prepares tables, graphs and other statistical data.  Reports outcome of analysis and proposes corrective actions.
Undertakes ongoing visits to UNICEF project sites within the region, assesses local conditions and resources, and monitors UNICEF inputs. Communicates with local counterpart authorities on project feasibility and effectiveness including monitoring the flow of supply and non-supply assistance.
Undertakes follow-up action on child survival programme implementation activities, contributes to teamwork building, and prepares relevant reports.  Drafts changes in programme workplan as required.
Attends technical cooperation meetings at the regional level, prepares notes and undertakes follow-up action and coordination related to programme implementation and monitoring.
Contributes to providing technical assistance to government partners in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluating of child survival integrated activities at the regional and district levels.
Assists government partners in training and orientation materials for those involved in programme implementation, including donor and media visits.
Assists to Evaluate and to analyze financial and supply reports to ensure appropriateness of documentation, expenditures are within allotments, data is consistent with PIDB. Reports to the Supervisor and/or Head of Office the outcome of reviews.
Drafts relevant sections of reports (management, annual reports, etc.) and documentation of best practices in child     survival area.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Post is office-based with travel to project sites. Incumbent may be out-posted.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Education           
University degree in Social Sciences, public health, or related technical field.
Experience         
Three to four years progressively responsible experience in programme design, administration, monitoring and evaluation or related field.
Language(s)      
Fluency in French and English is required.
Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
