The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Mali wishes to recruit for the following position:
Title: Supply Assistant
Level: GS-6 (General Services)
Type of Appointment: Temporary Appointment (TA)
Duration: 364 days
Duty Station : Bamako, Mali
Date of issue : 26 April 2012
Date of closure: 10 May 2012
I. PURPOSE OF THE POST
Under the direct supervision of the Supply & Logistics Manager, the incumbent contributes to the Supply operations, requiring basic professional technical expertise in support of the emergency operations and programme objectives.
II. MAJOR TASKS
– Assist in the Country Programme strategy planning review to recommend on supply requirements and to provide support in the preparation of Plan of Operations and Plans of Action.
– Assist in the implementation of supply component of the Country Programme ;
– Participate in the preparation/compilation of the supply status reports required for donor reports, budget reviews, programme analysis, annual reports, appeals, etc.
– Participates to undertake field visits to project sites and monitor supply inputs.
– Proposes corrective actions to improve supply procedures.
– Communicate and report quality issues with respect to supply agreements.
III. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE
Education

– Completion of secondary education;
– Additional training in Administration /Management.
Experience
– Six years of relevant professional work experience;
– National work experience in supply, purchasing, contracting and administration and/or other related fields
– Work experience in Emergency.
Language(s) : Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English required.
Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
