I.
PURPOSE OF THE POST
Under the general supervision of the ICT Officer, provide technical, operational and procedural support and end-user services in the implementation and support of telecommunications management (systems, procedures and activities). Install, maintain and supervise operation of all telecommunications equipment, such as HF and VHF radios, fax, telephone, PABX and satellite equipment.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Telecom activities in UNICEF Mali. That includes maintenance, installation of HF, VHF radios for bases and vehicles in all Mali offices.
Co-ordinate with staff in Zonal Office to ensure smooth operation of telecom equipment.
Train all UNICEF staff on the use of Telecom equipment. That includes provide training on the use of HF, VHF and Satellite communication equipment
Coordinate with other UN agencies to ensure efficient use of telecommunication equipment radio resources and provide guidance on channel allocation.
Ensure security, redundancy, integrity and confidentiality of UNICEF communication facilities. Ensure preventive measures to protect the systems from internal external hazards.
Arrangement and clearance of pending telephone invoices and report promptly to supervisor of any problem affecting the payment to service provider.
Registration and release of IT equipment and ensure proper storage of IT & TC equipment
Arrange TC filing in a proper structure to ensure detailed registration of all incidents, configuration, and history management of TC equipment.
Carry out any other relevant functions as assigned by supervisor.
III. WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office-based position. With frequent travel to support the IT-related activities in Zonal offices.
IV. QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Education

Completion of secondary education, with specialized training in radio telecommunications. Theoretical foundations of telecommunication and radio theory with practical applications of telecommunications and radio network development. General knowledge of computer systems and deployment of VSAT, Microwave and LAN networks. Must be computer literate.
Experience
Two to Three years practical work experience in operating and maintaining telecommunications networks and equipment
Language(s)
Fluently in French language and good Knowledge of English. Knowledge of the local Language of the duty station an asset.
