I.
PURPOSE OF THE POST
Under the supervision of the ICT Officer, provide technical, operational and procedural support and end-user services in the implementation and support of information management (systems, procedures and activities) of the office.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the introduction and technical operation of organizational computer applications. This involves overall understanding of the functioning of the system and the interaction of data between sections within the office and with HQ divisions. Assist to install new versions of the systems and troubleshoot ad-hoc user problems in its functioning.
Administer the office multi-user network (3) and other data and telecommunications facilities. This involves administering user access to the network, data security of the network, and troubleshooting ad-hoc hardware and/or software problems experienced in the network or stand-alone systems.
Program local office computer applications. This involves analysis, design and programming processes.
Administer maintenance of computer equipment. This involves arrangements within the office for reporting equipment problems and attending to their repair through local vendors arrangements.
Participate in the introduction, the purchase, the installation and the running of specific and new computer hardware and software. This involves assisting in interpretation of NYHQ guidelines for local office relevance and preparation of direct ordering with vendors as per standard specifications and regulations. Installation of new hardware is scheduled with users. Advice users on appropriate use of software packages and administer software policy for the office.
Arrange for and/or perform office training and support for computerization. This involves drafting an office training plan. In-house training courses formulated and given for new staff members and/or new corporate software. Ad-hoc support to users experiencing difficulties will involve analyzing the source of the problem and solving it, whether hardware or software related.
III. WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office-based position. Some in-country travel may be required to assist various technical advisers with their on-site computer problems. Yearly regional travel to MIS Network meeting.
IV. QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Education

Completed secondary education, supplemented by specialized training through university courses in computer science, information systems and telecommunication.
Experience
Seven years progressively responsible experience in computer information management work, including data processing applications, use and evaluation of programme packages, database management, multi-user network and telecommunications, network analysis and design, hardware/software installation and management, user assistance, end-user documentation and local computer applications programming, in support of office computerization.
Language(s)
Fluency in French and Solid knowledge of English are required.
Knowledge of local language of the duty station is an asset.
