The Company

As a result of the company’s continued growth, an excellent opportunity has become available for suitably qualified candidates to join the Boart Longyear Drilling Service TEAM in Mali.
Responsibilities
– Responsible for supporting the computer end-users with problem reporting, identification, and resolution also for configuration of PCs and other IT equipment as required.
– Maintain appropriate information in Service Desk and other appropriate utilities such as asset register.
– Assist users with day to day computer related questions.
– May be asked to work occasional unsocial hours in order not to impact normal business.
List of Duties
– Troubleshoot IT problems, hardware and software, and escalate as appropriate.
– Record and update all problems in Service Desk trouble-ticketing system Service-Now.
– Receive tickets assigned through Service-Now or assignments from WA IT Administrator
– Set up new PC workstations, printers, and other peripherals using Corporate tools and standards.
– Assist local users in complying with Corporate standards.
– Report and assist Corporate IT team with any breaches of security, virus alerts, inappropriate use of Company IT and network resources.
– Change or arrange regular (daily) changing of backup tapes where required, and ensure secure storage of tapes in fire safe or approved off-site storage.
– Raise requests for purchases of IT-related equipment, and process deliveries of equipment including recording and entering into asset register.
– Adhere to company’s software licensing policy
– Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.
Reporting Relationships
The position reports directly to the West Africa IT Administrator and has working relationships with associated BLY office and field staff.
Remuneration
We offer an industry competitive salary package covered by the Boart Longyear Compensation and Benefit book and the local mining convention agreement.
Selection Criteria
The right person will possess or be working towards the following position requirements
Education and professional background
– A.S./B.S. degree computer science or related degree or equivalent experience
– 1 or more years’ experience as a hardware/software technician in a business environment
– Relevant professional IT-related qualifications would be an advantage
Computer skills
– Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and operating systems
– Working knowledge of PC in a networking environment
– Ability to learn new products quickly
– Hardware and software configurations
– Good troubleshooting skills (hardware/software)
– System software knowledge/experience (Windows 7, Windows XP)
– Outstanding people skills and customer service skills orientation
– Able to handle rapidly changing priorities, high visibility-high stress situations
– Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills
Personal abilities:
– Detail oriented
– Analytical
– Willing to work long (sometimes odd) hours; ability to be flexible
– Team Player
– Very organized (precise with regard to documentation & follow up)
Languages
– Fluent spoken and written English
– French would be an advantage
