About ICCO and Kerk in Actie
ICCO (Interchurch Organization for Development Co-operation) & Kerk in Actie provide financial support and advice to local organizations and networks that are dedicated to improve access to basic services, stimulate sustainable economic development and promote peace and democracy. We also mediate between enterprising peopleand organizations in the Netherlands and in developing countries. We work closely with social organizations, educational institutions and the private sector. We help people to build a dignified existence and become financially independent.
ICCO and Kerk in Actie are active members of ACT ,the alliance of 111 churches and church-related organizations in 140 countries that work together in humanitarian assistance and development.
For our Regional Office in Mali (Bamako), we are looking for candidates for the position of: REGIONAL MANAGER (M/F 100%) for the region West Africa (Senegal, Benin, Mali, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ghana )
About the Regional Office West Africa
The Regional Office of ICCO and Kerk in Actie for West Africa is supporting pro poor initiatives aiming at better access of local producers to local and international markets, monitor and advocate for the spending of government budgets for development (budget tracking and community advocacy), strengthening civil society, especially in countries with weak governmental structures and working on sustainable use of natural resources. Priority is given to investment in food security and education to develop human capital. Its innovative programmatic development approach is an important stepping stone to catch up with creative solutions and assist the marginalized in becoming more self dependence by entrepreneurship and improved claim making power. It is our strength to support emerging coalitions of partner organizations and other institutions and movements.
The team in Bamako consist of 7 Program Officers, a Business economic advisor an international fundraiser and two financial analysts, an office administrator (+assistant), secretary and driver/messenger/maintenance officer.
Profile of the Regional Manager
The responsibility of the regional manager is managing strategy development, program innovation and program implementation. Besides this he is managing the staff and operations of the regional office and he facilitates the work of the Regional Council.
Tasks
Developing and maintaining relationships of ICCO and Kerk in Actie in the region, i.e. with partners, coalitions, networks and advisors, embassies, sister agencies, etc.
Managing all staff in the Regional Office in accordance with a management style aiming at productivity and satisfaction of the employees, efficiency in using capacity and quality of labour and efficiency regarding office facilities, systems and procedures.
Planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation at the regional level
Concluding financial agreements and monitoring the implementation of these agreements
Contributing to fund raising, North – South as well as South – North and South – South exchange and communication about the work of ICCO and Kerk in Actie
Competence building of all employees of the Regional Office
Providing management information to the International Programme Director and Executive Board. The RM identifies bottlenecks and suggests possible solutions
Participating in management meetings of ICCO Global Office
Responsibility for the relationship with the regional council, including facilitation and communication
Position in the organization
The RM reports to the International Programme Director and is managing the employees in the RO. The RM reports to the Executive Board for all issues related to the Regional Council.
Qualifications needed
Good knowledge of the social, economic and political situation in the region
Skills in managing professionals from different cultural background in a complex environment
Substantial experience (10-12 years experience in a relevant field and some years in the region)
Good up to date knowledge of development issues, change processes and North-South cooperation and the role of religion in development
Complex strategy and policy development process skills
Excellent language skills in Dutch and good language skills in English and French, in speaking and writing.
Analytic skills
Good (intercultural) communication skills: chairing/convening/teambuilding/mediation skills
Knowledge of civil society in The Netherlands, including the role of churches

Terms of employment
The ICCO international terms of employment are valid for this position. The salary level will be in accordance with scale 13 of the ICCO salary system.
