The United Nations Children’s Fund in Mali wishes to recruit a Malian national for the following position:
Title : Nutrition Specialist
Level : NOC (National Professional, Category C of the UN System)
Type of Appointment: Fixed Term
Duration : Initially 12 months (renewable based on satisfactory performance)

Duty Station : Mopti

I. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Designs, prepares, implements, monitors and evaluates child survival annual work plan (AWP) regarding the nutrition component. Compiles, analyzes and evaluates data to ensure achievement of objectives and/or takes corrective action when necessary to meet programme/project objectives. Contributes to the development and/or introduction of new approaches, methods and practices in project management and evaluation.
– Contributes to the preparation of the nutrition related sectoral documents for the regional plans of action, donor reports and other programme documents, as required.
– Participates in inter-sectoral collaboration with other programme colleagues. Assists in development of appropriate communication and information strategy to support and/or advocate programme development. Undertakes field visits within the regional to monitor nutrition activities, as well as conducts periodic programme reviews with government counterparts and other partners. Proposes and/or undertakes action on operational procedures affecting project management and implementation. Provides technical advice and assistance to regional officials and other partners in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition activities. Assist the Regional Health Director, local authorities and implementing partners by providing guidance for planning and coordination of nutrition, policies and programme at regional, district and local levels. Advocates and interacts with regional authorities and partners in order to adopt and implement specific strategies and interventions PRODESS and other national policies with regards to nutrition. Participates in meetings with directors responsible for programme/project review, and follows up on implementation of recommendations and agreements with regards to nutrition activities.
– Assists regional authorities and implementing partners in planning and organizing training programmes. Identifies training needs and objectives for the purpose of capacity building, programme, sustainability, as well as promotion and advocacy in the area of nutrition.
II. QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
1.) Education
Advanced university degree in Nutrition, or related technical field.
2.) Experience:
Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, in a related field.
3.) Language(s)
Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English is required.
Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
4.) Other Competencies
