Description : AngloGold Ashanti has a vacancy for a Mine Closure Project Manager at its Yatela Gold Mine in Mali, West Africa. The successful candidate will manage the planning implementation and monitoring of the closure of Yatela Mine for a three year period from 2006
Location : Yatela Gold Mine, Mali
Qualifications Required : A relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. environmentalist, project management, mining engineering etc) preferably at Masters degree level
Experience Required : Previous experience in managing mine closure and decommissioning projects Good interpersonal and leadership skills Emotional intelligence Adequately experienced to maintain credibility with senior operations management, joint venture partners and government officials Adequately matured as a person with interpersonal skills to influence people and the business
Role and Responsibility : Although the Project Manager will be responsible for the successful implementation of the project until Government approval is granted, he will manage various other taks as head of a multi-disciplinary project team. Development of the Project Charter reflecting the project objectives and project deliverables. Development and implementation of a closure project plan, in consultation with mine management and AngloGold Ashanti corporate office, to guide decommissioning and restoration/rehabilitation activities from 2007 to 2013. This will include a description of the project management approach or strategy (a summary of the individual management plans from the other project areas). Development of a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to the level at which control will be exercised, as a baseline scope document. Reviewing and refining closure cost estimates, scheduled start and finish dates (schedule), and responsibility assignments for each deliverable within the WBS to the level at which control will be exercised. Development and implementation of a project monitoring and evaluation plan to track major milestones and target dates for each. Development and implementation of a risk management plan, including key risks, constraints and assumptions, planned responses and contingencies (where appropriate) for each. Development and implementation of a project communication strategy including internal and external stakeholders Development and implementation of subsidiary management plans, namely scope management plan, schedule management plan, cost management plan, quality management plan, staffing management plan and procurement management plan.
