Description : The main function of the Chief Mine Geologist would be to optimize the exploitation of the mines Mineral Resource through efficient ore flow, ground water and slope stability management.
Location : Sadiola Gold Mine, Mali
Qualifications Required : BSc (Hons) Geology.
Experience Required :
Additional postgraduate qualifications would be an advantage.
At least 7 years relevant experience.
Previous experience working on a multi-disciplined production team is essential.
Proficiency in operating mining software (Datamine) would be advantageous.
Good English communication skills.
Role and Responsibility : The incumbent would be responsible for the following:
Manage grade control and mapping activities to ensure that ore dilution and ore loss is minimised.
Manage pit mapping activities and ensure that this information is fed through to the other geology disciplines.
Manage geotechnical activities to optimize pit slope angles and minimise the risk of slope failure.
Manage dewatering of the open pits through the timely completion and monitoring of piezometers, water bores and horizontal drainage holes.
Manage the Mine Geology Department safety and environmental programs.
Manage mine geology projects such as the density probe, sterilization and in-pit exploration drilling, and ore accounting (REMS) database.
The implementation and monitoring of training programmes for the mine geology personnel.
Additional Information : The incumbent will be offered a married status contract. The successful candidate will report to the Geology Manager and will be required to report technical information to the Mining Manager.

Remuneration : The successful expatriate candidate will be appointed on an expatriate 2 year contract, which may be renewed after the 2 year period, regular leave break will apply. The successful candidate could be offered a two-year US dollar based salary.
