Description : Daily management of within pit mining practices, ore mark-up, grade control modelling and estimation. Supervision of Geologists and Ore Control technicians.
Location : Morila Mine, Mali
Qualifications Required : BSc Geology or equivalent
Experience Required : Minimum of 5 years practical Open Pit mining geology either in Ore Control or Grade Control. Exposure to a range of mining operations including underground will be viewed favourably. Dedication to a 24/7 mining operation. Comprehensive understanding of the mining & reconciliation processes. Effective communication with all other departments. Reliable, proactive support of the grade control system.
Role and Responsibility : Ensure best practice in Grade Control modelling and estimation. Ensure best practice in ore mark-up, dilution control and mining geology. Quality Control of Grade Control modelling and estimation. Quality Control of pit mark-ups and supervision of Ore Spotters and Mapping Geologists. Ensure mining requirements and deadlines are met. Notify Metallurgy of sample availability, mining schedules and ROM material types. Timely communication of issues to Grade Control Superintendent and Geology Manager. Staff training and development. Ensure and sign-off that all work generated by subordinates is to the required standards for AGA, GGM and JORC. Liaise with software vendor and install updates if acting for Grade Control Superintendent. Monitor data quality and availability. Sign-off on work and products to ensure satisfactory quality, in absence of Grade Control Superintendent. Attendance of production and planning meetings. Inform Grade Control and Ore Control Geologists of mining deadlines. Ensure deadlines are met. Allocation of work/tasks to Grade Control Geologists. Communicate with other sections and departments. Undertake grade control modelling and estimation. Maintain acid mine drainage & void models. Quality control and supervision of within pit mapping. Ensuring best practice in Dilution and Ore Loss Control. Ensuring ore perimeter mark-outs are timely and practical.

Remuneration : The successful candidate will be appointed on an expatriate 1-2 year contract, which may be renewed after the 2-year period.
