Description : AngloGold Ashanti has a vacancy for an Environmental Superintendent at its Sadiola and Yatela Mines in Mali, West Africa. The successful candidate will provide technical environmental expertise and also run the environmental management systems of the mines in line with corporate and international guidelines and standards
Location : Sadiola Gold Mine, Mali
Qualifications Required : Post-graduate environmental qualification (preferably Masters degree)
Experience Required : Good interpersonal and leadership skills At least 5 years technical operational experience Emotional intelligence Adequately experienced to maintain credibility with senior operations management, joint venture partners and government officials Professionally qualified and recognised to authorised official documentation by Company boards, government departments, non governmental departments, non governmental structures and professional institutes Adequately matured as a person with interpersonal skills to influence people and the business from a distance
Role and Responsibility : Ensuring that the mines are in compliance with all applicable national environmental laws Implementing an ISO 14001 environmental management system Environmental risk management (Identifying major risks or aspects and putting in place measures to manage them) Environmental reporting to the general manager, the AngloGold Ashanti corporate office and the Malian Government in accordance with local legislation. Management of environmental staff and implementing the localisation program at the mines
