Description : To undertake the Production Mining Engineering tasks required for the successful mining of the Yatela Open Pit Gold Mine
Location : Yatela Gold Mine, Mali
Qualifications Required : BSC Mining Engineering / National Higher Diploma in mining engineering.
Experience Required : At least 3-5 years of Open Pit experience at senior management level. Previous experience at using the planning packages Datamine and XPAC will be advantageous. Proficient in the Microsoft suite of packages.
Role and Responsibility : To direct and control the activities of the Mining Contractor to ensure that works are carried out within, mine safety standards, contractual requirements, and the budget time and cost parameters. Undertake operational planning to ensure efficient execution of the annual mining schedule. Generation and management of projects to improve and refine the production process especially with regard to mining cost reduction and ensuring that the best available engineering techniques are applied in optimizing the mining unit operations. Manage the Blasting Engineering functions to establish cost effective world class blasting practices at the mine. Oversee the design of blast layouts and monitoring of results and effects in order to optimize the blasting activity within the overall business process. Manage the activities of the Mine Survey Department, in supplying a world class topographical survey service as required for mine operational and slope stability monitoring purposes. To co-ordinate the activities of the service departments to ensure maximum support is given to the production function. To assist, in determining the performance appraisals of the direct reports. Document and review the career development of the direct reports. Perform the role of Acting Mining Manager in the absence of the Mining Manager when required. The safe operation of the working environment under the incumbents control is mandatory and must be managed through effective communication with all levels of the work force. The full compliance with all Company Environmental policies, standards and procedures is mandatory. It is required to maintain a sound industrial relation climate that is conducive for the optimization of production results through constant and affective communication. Closing Date : November 13, 2007
Remuneration : The successful expatriate candidate will be appointed on an expatriate 2 year contract, which may be renewed after the 2 year period, regular leave break will apply. The successful candidate could be offered a two-year US dollar based salary.
