Job Description
Report To: Regional Programme Manager UK/ Head of Division
Overall Responsibility:
– To represent Islamic Relief in Bamako to other NGOs, Governments and officials.
– Consolidate Islamic Relief strategy in Mali
– Provide strategic guidance and management to Islamic Relief staff in Mali
He/she should have the following:
– 5 Years relevant experience
– Strategic thinking and proven management, programme appraisal, development, and monitoring and impact assessment skills.
– Good human resource development and management;
– Good team leadership;
– Ability to develop linkages with INGOs, GOs, Institutional donors and other stakeholders.
– Experience in successfully developing and managing programmes funded by institutional donors.
– Fluency in written and spoken English and French. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
– Culturally sensitive and high level of diplomacy and tact.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
– Provide strategic direction to the overall goals of Islamic Relief in Mali through the development of a Strategic plan
– To represent Islamic Relief in Mali in relation to other INGOs, Governments, donors and officials.
– To effectively manage Islamic Relief activities in Mali.
– Develop programmes and projects based on country strategic plan as well as donor prerequisite/funding
– Liaising and strengthening linkages with NGOs, institutional donors and government departments
– To be responsible for the preparation and submission of programme proposals for the areas covered, including any emergency proposals, and to ensure the submission of timely and quality reports, both financial and narrative, to Islamic Relief HQ and to donors.
– Supervise the welfare and professional development of the field and programme staff
– Ensuring that all projects are implemented in a consultative and participative way
– To supervise and support programme staff in development of new projects and effective monitoring and evaluation of existing ones
– Report regularly to Islamic Relief HQ
Terms and Conditions:
– Grade : International Staff
– Salary Range : £20k-24k + Housing allowance + Insurance + etc
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience:
– Post graduate in development, social science or any relevant field
– 5 years senior Management Experience
– Experience of networking and developing linkages with INGO, GO
– Acquired working Experience in programme planning, implementation and monitoring.
– Experience in proposal writing and management of grants and budgets
– Financial Management skills
Languages: Excellent written and spoken English and French. Arabic is an assets.
IT Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel. Power point and MS Project
