Description : AngloGold Ashanti, one of the world’s largest gold producers, currently has an opportunity for a suitably qualified, dynamic and experienced geologist to head the Geological Exploration team on one of its West African Open Pit Mines
Location : Morila Gold Mine, Mali
Qualifications Required : Be in possession of a Bsc (Honours) in Geology Additional postgraduate qualifications will be advantageous
Experience Required : A minimum of 10 years dedicated exploration experience, with a dominant portion of this being in Greenstone gold terrains Knowledge of a GIS package, preferentially Arcview Project management experience Cultural awareness skills as well as leadership and managerial skills Interpersonal and communication skills Innovative and strategic thinking skills A broad knowledge of geochemical and geophysical exploration techniques In-depth knowledge of diamond and RC drilling
Role and Responsibility : Overseeing, reviewing and guiding the exploration in proximity to and within the mine lease area and to ensure the efficient use of financial and other resources in alignment with the companies business plans Supporting upper management and liaising with other mine departments to assist with their needs and add value to the operation Driving continuous improvement initiatives Conducting technical audits, assessing compliance with standards, specifications and procedures inclusive of best practice

Remuneration : The successful candidate will be appointed on an expatriate 1-2 year contract, which may be renewed after the initial period
