Purpose of the position:

The Project Manager will provide strategic, operational and technical oversight and management of the food assistance component of the emergency response, covering general food distributions, nutrition and food for education projects in compliance with WFP and WVI policies plus other relevant standards in the area of operation. The position will provide leadership that entails planning, supporting and management of the program so that activities and outputs remain on track and the program contributes to its main goal of alleviating suffering among disaster affected and vulnerable communities by improving access to humanitarian assistance. This will include partner coordination, logistical and technical support to the teams, including supporting the integrated rapid response missions (IRRM) during deep-field deployments to ensure that they are effectively implemented to meet set goals and objectives in accordance with World Vision and donors’ guidelines and policies.

Majors responsabilities:

  • Providing supervision and technical support to staff in management of all food resources, ensuring that the reception, handling, storage and documentation of food commodity movements are aligned with WFP and WVI DMT standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure an effective reporting system to produce timely and accurate commodities reports to WFP, WV Mali Office, DMT and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide support to all the field officers on commodity management and Review the distribution plans post distribution reports to ensure compliance to the partnership standards.
  • Support in Management food distribution teams and oversee random distributions during field visits.
  • Oversee regular reporting as per the donor requirements and standards.
  • Oversee efficient budget management and coordinate financial management aspects with the grant manager responsible for the program
  • Risk and security management: Actively combat fraud and corruption within the wider program, ensuring projects are ready for Risk Based Audits.
  • Develop/maintain relationships with government officials, donors, partners, NGOs, community groups and community.
  • Represent resilience programs with donors, government and others.
  • Maintain quality through compliance with World Vision and international humanitarian standards. Ensure Humanitarian Accountability, protection and gender main-streaming.

Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • University degree in Development Studies, Social Studies, Economics, Statistics or other related field
  • 5 years or more experience of relief and development work.
  • Experience of assessment, planning and implementation of development and emergency programmes.
  • Commitment to implementing WV’s vision and mission at all levels and in all aspects of the programme.
  • Good management experience
  • Relevant teamwork experience and good interpersonal skills. Ability to work sensitively with people from a variety of cultural and social back­grounds.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
  • Good command of English and French

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office-based with travel to the field
  • Travel: 10 % Domestic/international travel is required.
  • On call: 5%
